What works better than calamine lotion or cortizone cream for poison ivy rash?

Nothing has worked! I don't have a bad case at all (only 4 dime sized areas on my forearm), so I'm just looking for something that will stop the itching!!!! Any other suggestions, other than calamine or cortizone??? Relief...PLEASE! :-)What works better than calamine lotion or cortizone cream for poison ivy rash?

Seeing as how it's only your arm you won't need a full bath, but they make a bath called oatmeal bath, it comes in a blue and white box and is used for chicken pox mainly. I used it when I had poison Ivy and it helped after soaking for about 20 min, then adding calamine lotion. Here are some other anti-itch creams.

Lanacane.

Active-on.

Cortaid.

Here's a home remedy I found as well.

';The best home remedy to relieve the itching from chickenpox is to mix 1 cup of white kitchen vinegar, 1/2 cup of baking soda and one to two capfuls of Alpha Keri body oil in a bath,';
Hi Sand 2000,

POISON IVY %26amp; POISON OAK

The health and fitness expert Patricia Bragg recommends spraying a solution of equal parts apple cider vinegar and distilled water on to the affected areas to stop the pain, itching and ease the swelling. Cooling the spray in the refrigerator will provide even more relief. Try it doesn't cost much.
NEVER NEVER BLEACH!!!

Poison ivy is easily spread by scratching %26amp; other physical contact!

Try white vinegar, or ammonia (like for washing floors %26amp; stuff)- both well known to use for bug bites %26amp; skin irritation.

Also, we use Preparation H cream. Yes, it is meant for hemorrhoids, but it is very safe to use on delicate areas, and stops itching and reduces inflamation.

Also, you may want to try taking benedryl pills (available OTC). Benedryl is an antihystimine that helps itching a lot... but it can make you drowsy, so be careful if you need to drive or operate machinery.

Hope this helps! Good luck! ((^_^))
