Would putting twice the amount of cream, produce twice the effect (SPF, cortizone, DEET,etc.)?

So if I have SPF 15 sunscreen and put twice the normal amount on my skin, would it have the effect of SPF 30? What about hydrocortizon creams? If I put 2.5 times as much of 1%, would it give me 2.5 times the effect (equating to the prescription strength)? How about insect repellant? I always wanted to know this, but didn't know whom to ask... Serious answers only, please. Thank you.Would putting twice the amount of cream, produce twice the effect (SPF, cortizone, DEET,etc.)?
No, it will not give you twice the normal protection. Think about it this way, if you have a whole apple and you cut it into smaller peices, it doesn't matter how many peices you have it is still only one apple. So it doesn' matter how much you put on your skin it will still be the same amount as SPF 15 or hydrocortizon creams or for insect repellant strength that is on the bottle.

Hope this helps!!!!Would putting twice the amount of cream, produce twice the effect (SPF, cortizone, DEET,etc.)?
No. In fact, with topical steroids (such as hydrocortisone creams), using more than recommended can actually cause damage to your skin. It's important to use all products, topical or otherwise, as directed.
